John has worked with psychotherapy clients from a variety of different backgrounds and walks of life, and has specialized training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, an empirically-based treatment that has been shown to be effective with a number of different behavioral health conditions.  He has experience working through difficult problems with his clients, including:

  • Academic and occupational struggles
  • Mood disorders like depression and bipolar disorder
  • Perfectionism
  • Anxiety disorders, including social anxiety
  • Family/relationship conflict
  • Parenting trials
  • Self-esteem concerns
  • Phase-of-life issues
  • Traumatic experiences

He specializes in working with adult clients, and his welcoming style makes him an effectual psychotherapist.

John’s biggest strength is his ability to work with his clients through life’s challenges.  He is understanding, patient, and skilled. He is theoretically oriented with Systems Theory (the belief that we each influence our immediate environment around us and are subsequently influenced by others), and Psychodynamic Theory (a method that evaluates how past experiences may be impacting current behavior and feelings), though he is also knowledgeable about interventions and treatment based on Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.  His psychotherapy sessions are catered to the individual needs of each client, and his treatment style is adaptable and considerate.

John has a comfortable, peaceful, and spacious office in Westlake Village off of Corsa Avenue, which offers client privacy and ample parking.
