She is also experienced in the treatment of addictive disorders, and has an additional specialization with members of the LGBT community; she is LGBT-affirming. She is patient, experienced, and able to address complex issues in a creative, knowledgeable, and accepting manner. She is theoretically-oriented with Systems Theory (the belief that we each influence our immediate environment around us and are subsequently influenced by others), and Psychodynamic Theory (a method that evaluates how past experiences may be impacting current behavior and feelings), though she is also knowledgeable about interventions and treatment based on Motivational Interviewing, the 12-Step Addiction Model, Addiction-free Pain Management, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Seeking Safety (for trauma survivors), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, the Disease Model of Addiction, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
